Account & Authentication

How do I create an account?

Click the 'Sign Up' button in the top right corner of any page. You'll need to provide your email address and create a password. No credit card required. After signing up, you'll receive a confirmation email to verify your account.

How do I reset my password?

Go to the login page and click 'Forgot Password'. Enter your email address and we'll send you a link to reset your password. The link expires after 24 hours for security.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, you can delete your account at any time. Go to Settings > Account and click 'Delete Account'. This action is irreversible and will permanently delete your collection, wishlist, and transaction history.

What information is required to sign up?

We only require your email address and a password to create an account. You can optionally add your name and location later to enable local trading features. We never ask for sensitive information like social security numbers or bank details.

Collection Management

How do I add cards to my collection?

You can add cards in two ways: 1) Manually search for cards using our Scryfall-powered search and add them one at a time, or 2) Import hundreds of cards at once using our CSV import feature. Go to your Collection page to get started.

Can I import cards from CSV?

Yes! We support CSV exports from popular collection managers like Manabox, Moxfield, and Deckbox. Simply export your collection as a CSV file and upload it to Spell Swap. Our system will automatically match cards and add them to your collection.

How do I organize my collection into containers?

Containers help you organize your physical storage. Create containers like 'Binder 1', 'Deck Box', or 'Trade Binder' and assign cards to them. This helps you track exactly where each card is stored.

What card conditions are supported?

We support all standard Magic card conditions: Near Mint (NM), Lightly Played (LP), Moderately Played (MP), Heavily Played (HP), and Damaged. You can set the condition for each card in your collection.

Buying & Selling

How do I list cards for sale?

Navigate to your Collection, find the cards you want to sell, and click 'Mark for Sale'. Set your price and the cards will appear in the marketplace for local buyers. You can list as many cards as you want for free.

How do I purchase cards?

Browse the marketplace to find cards you want. When you find something, add it to your cart and checkout. This creates a transaction with the seller. You'll then message them to arrange a meetup and complete the trade in person.

What payment methods are accepted?

We use Stripe Connect for secure payments. You can pay with credit cards, debit cards, and other payment methods supported by Stripe. Payments are held securely until the trade is completed.

How do I arrange a meetup?

After checkout, a chat opens automatically with the seller. Use this chat to coordinate a time and place to meet. We recommend meeting in public places like game stores, coffee shops, or libraries.

Privacy & Security

Is my personal information secure?

Yes, we take security seriously. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never share your personal information with third parties except as required by law or to facilitate transactions (like payment processing with Stripe).

How is my location used?

Your location is used only to find nearby traders and show you cards available in your area. You can set your location to a general area (like your city) rather than your exact address. You can also make your collection private if you don't want others to see it.

Can I make my collection private?

Yes! You can set your entire collection to private so only you can see it. You can also make individual containers private. This is useful if you want to track your collection without sharing it with others.

Troubleshooting

Why isn't my location working?

Make sure you've granted location permissions to your browser. You can also manually set your location in Settings > Location. If you're still having issues, try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser.

How do I report a user?

If you encounter inappropriate behavior, use the 'Report' button in the messaging interface or contact us at support@spellswapmtg.com with details. We investigate all reports and take action against users who violate our terms.

What should I do if a transaction goes wrong?

First, try to resolve it directly with the other trader through the messaging system. If that doesn't work, contact us with details of the transaction. We can help mediate disputes and may be able to assist with payment issues.
